Title/Author: Vulture View, by April Pulley Sayre and Steve Jenkins
Publisher/Date/Price: Henry Holt and Company, 2007, hardcover, $16.95
Length/Audience: 32 pgs., ages 4 to 8
Commentary: Vulture View is a picture book about the daily life of vultures – how they eat and how they fly. While vultures may not eat what we eat, they are important in our ecosystem.
(This is a favorite book that we use for our kindergarten “Let’s Go Explore!” classroom pre-hike lesson. We love the story and the illustrations!)
The photo below was taken by Oak Ambassdor Chris during our January 30, 2014, lichen hike and shows a turkey vulture that we saw resting on an old oak in the distance.
